Frightening Fun in Store this Halloween Season at The Gypsy Camp Curse!

NebraskaHauntedHouses.com recently sat down with Katie Weddleton of The Gypsy Camp Curse, to discuss what's new at the attraction for the 2018 Halloween Season!

What's new at The Gypsy Camp Curse for 2018? Do you have any new rides, attractions, or special features that Haunt Seekers should know about?

We have added some great animatronics, expanded the haunt, and we are working every week to update and change things to ensure the best haunt experience possible.

What are you most excited about for the 2018 Halloween Season?

We are so excited to see how everyone reacts to our changes, especially with a completely new layout. We love creating a unique scare experience for each group.

What differentiates The Gypsy Camp Curse from other local haunts in Nebraska?

We have a fresh take on the haunt experience. The mixture of indoor and outdoor elements makes for a very different kind of haunt. We are also in the amusement industry full-time, so we have many years' experience in making magic happen in unexpected ways.

How long has The Gypsy Camp Curse been in business? Can you tell us a bit more about The Gypsy Camp Curse's history?

We have been open to the public since 2017. We chose this particular location for the fact that back in the 1920s, a group of gypsies was actually chased off of this property by angry farmers... Legend has it, one gypsy put a curse on the land.

What's your favorite experience since opening The Gypsy Camp Curse?

We absolutely love putting together a great experience for everyone we see. We like to play off the unexpected, and we really get a kick out of scaring people in new ways. I personally love watching those who like to pretend that they are not even a little bit scared continuously looking over their shoulders.

How long is a typical haunt experience at The Gypsy Camp Curse from start to finish?

About 30 minutes, sometimes longer, depending on how quickly the guests move through the haunt.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how scary would you say The Gypsy Camp Curse is? Why?

It varies, anywhere from 6-10. Again, we tailor the haunt experience to each group, and no two groups of people get the same exact experience.

Does The Gypsy Camp Curse's property have any real haunted history? Do you have a spooky encounter you'd like to share?

We have definitely heard voices and had some creepy unexplainable things happen to us since we started working on the property. Is the legend true? Who knows, but there is definitely something out there. I have personally had things move from the location I leave them when I am positive I am the only person out there.

What inspired you to open up a haunted attraction? What's your favorite part of the business?

The opportunity just kind of fell into our laps, and we took a chance on having a good time scaring folks. I really enjoy being able to change things up to get a reaction from people who might not normally react at all in a haunt, and I absolutely love hearing the exclamations of "How is that even possible?!"

How has new technology (i.e. animatronics, special props, etc) helped you to enhance The Gypsy Camp Curse?

We have been able to use technology to allow us to put a haunt where normally it wouldn't be feasible. We also like how animatronics add an extra bit of magic to the haunt experience.

Can The Gypsy Camp Curse accommodate large groups? How many people can experience The Gypsy Camp Curse together as a group?

We can accommodate groups of any size, but as far as actually experiencing the haunt together, we prefer to send groups of 4-6 people at a time, so that no one gets left out and everyone can have a chance to get a good scare!

Does The Gypsy Camp Curse offer any special deals, discounts, or coupons?

We have discounted admission of $5 before 8 pm, and $8 before 9 pm... We can also make these times a bit less frightening for those who want to bring their children out.

Anything else you'd like to let us know about The Gypsy Camp Curse?

We do offer movie marathons on a nightly basis, and we want everyone to take advantage of our free photo booth!
